During a period of 8 years, the photographer Véronique Kolber travelled several times to the "States". This resulted in her AMERICAN DIORAMA , a very personal photo series inspired by Eggleston and Shore about her travels and everyday life in America. Inspired by films and her own experiences as a film set photographer, Véronique Kolber developed this project to its present form: "fictitious location spotting for a non-existing movie".
The photographer Thomas Bergbold enjoys travelling by the sea or in the mountains - in addition to North America, he also likes to be in the Alps, on Mallorca or in Scandinavia. The pictures in his latest exhibition were taken on various road trips, mainly through Canada and the USA. Snapshots from everyday life alternate with magnificent nature and places of longing.
Unconscious Places is the name he applied early on to that portion of his street photographs that originated in Düsseldorf and went on to include London, New York, as well as Japan, China, Korea, Peru, and Russia. A selection of these works was recently shown in Thomas Struth's most extensive exhibition at the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao (October 2, 2019 - January 19, 2020). They were framed in CONSERVO magnetic frames by HALBE.
Leica has opened another Leica Store with gallery in Stuttgart. The opening will feature an exhibition to mark the eightieth birthday of photographer Herlinde Koelbl.

Wu Tang Clan

This year the legendary New York rap group of the Wu Tang Clan celebrates the 26th anniversary of their first album. Now, a new exhibition by Absolut Art showed established and emerging contemporary artists who have been influenced by Wu Tang in their artistic career.

"STRICHMÄDCHEN"

The artist Judith Clara, born in Saarbrücken, Germany, creates works of art from a single line with her One Line Art. Until 20 December she will be exhibiting her works under the title "Strichmädchen" at the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz. The main theme in her works is the woman as a unique and fascinating creature.
Within the exhibition series " Heroes of Hamburg" the portrait photographer Walter Schels presents his works on the subject "LIFE", in which he tries to answer the question what actually constitutes a human being. The exhibition can be visited until the 3rd of October in the Haus der Photographie/Deichtorhallen Hamburg.
This year Berlin and Beijing celebrated the 25th anniversary of their city partnership. On this occasion, the exhibition "Stories from China" took place, in which eight photographers from China and Germany presented their works, which showed different perspectives on China.
In recent years, the photos of photographer Manfred Koch have been shown at several individual exhibitions in Germany and abroad. In 2014 he was appointed to the German Photographic Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photografie). Some of the photos of his recent exhibition can be seen here. His last show in Graz was called "Von anderen Stätten".
The artistic work "Deutschland Reiseatlas 2014/2015, 1:200 000" by Miki Lin is comprised of a total of 106 DIN A3 drawings framed in white Alu Distance magnetic frames. What's interesting is the graphic process of abstraction of the river names but also the way the frames are hung. Close together, side by side and on top of each other the individual frames create a large map of Germany constructed by river names.
The new trade show format SHOW & ORDER features two photos by Berlin photographer Daniel Reiter from his latest exhibition. Framed by Halbe Rahmen the photos are perfectly integrated into the concept of the exhibitors.
A free cultural institute In Innsbruck, Austria, that calls itself "The Bakery"(Die Bäckerei), exhibits ocean pictures by photographer David Steinbacher. They are part of a series of 1200x1200mm ocean pictures aptly presented in timeless, simple Halbe frames.

The Trinity

The exhibition The Trinity is running at The Institute at the Holzmarkt in Berlin until 30 October 2016. Founded by Gavin Evans, the current exhibition shows photos by the late David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Nick Cave.
For its current exhibition "Spuren im Licht“ (Traces in the Light) the Kleihues Museum and its visitors go on a quest for works of art that very much allow different perspectives.
With this exhibition the Vitra Design Museum praises one of the most influential textile and interior designers of the 20the century - Alexander Girard. He was a pioneer of postwar US-American design and created furniture and fabrics but also building objects.
To arrange many photos or objects at once for a coherent overall picture, requires consistency.

Eighth BFF edition in Hamburg

The wether ist cold, the exhibition ist hot and the party much hotter.
Up until 17 April, the House of Photography at the Deichtorhallen will present an incredibly diverse and exciting range of works by nine current prizewinners.
The exhibition "The Artist as Photographer. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's photographic work" runs until 1 May at the Kirchner Museum Davos. The primary focus is on the famous Expressionist's glass plate and cellulose negatives from the years 1908-1938.
The photographic series RIVALIS by Stefan Stößel is now on display in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig.
A small exhibition of works by J. Konrad Schmidt is currently on display at the Louvre, Paris.
Few people know St. Pauli as well as press photographer Günter Zint. He meanders through the streets of St. Pauli with camera in hand, always searching for a fresh angle, a new image.
Take a Distance D20 magnetic frame, a foam sheet, a creative idea, glass particles and there you have it, a mosaic by Meersburg artist Edelgard Brecht.

Opportunities Realized

The dry plate or gelatine process is a method which was used in the early days of photography. Snapshots and negatives could be produced more easily in this way.
Four generations of the Fäßler family have documented their story in a rather unusual picture book, from trips to the farm in years gone by today's five-star spa resort.
Jewish ritual baths is a touring exhibition which ran from 5 May 2011 – 30 October 2011. The Frankfurt photographer Peter Seidel highlights the architectural intricacies and variety of construction styles used in Jewish ritual baths throughout Europe.
They appear in the glistening light of the burning desert sun: dreams of flying, of endless freedom. In sharp shadows they fall on the dry sand of the Southwestern United States. The erstwhile pioneers of aviation have been decommissioned, forgotten and yet stand in perennial anticipation, magically beautiful in their final parking position.
German photojournalist Kai Wiedenhöfer is one of those photographers who does not avert his gaze, nor has he done so in over twenty years of taking pictures.
