About the exhibition
Since May 19, the Städtische Galerie 'Lovis-Kabinett' in Villingen-Schwenningen has been showing the exhibition Verortung, which presents works by the artist Renata Jaworska. The focus here is on the perception of urban systems in the digital world, which is accessible at all times. By making them available online on a large scale, complex urban systems suddenly become manageable, but they can also be viewed in detail. This makes it possible to look closely at cities that may be thousands of miles away and get a picture of those places. What it really means to get a picture of a place is shown by Renata Jaworska in her paintings and prints in this exhibition.
In 2017, she began to intensively explore the medium of 'map' and the representation of reality. For this, she looked at real map material and personal images were created, which show urban structures and areas. The question of belonging is also addressed in particular. Jaworska uses the line as the main design element, creating interconnections that also reflect the artist's own experiences.
About the artist
Renata Jaworska was born in Poland in 1979. She studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2000 to 2006, most recently as a master student of Jörg Immendorff. Since 2017, she has been increasingly concerned with topographies and maps. In this context, she also repeatedly encounters the question of belonging, which she deals with intensively, again in this exhibition. She lives and works in Düsseldorf and in Salem on Lake Constance.

Frames in action
These special works are presented through simple picture frames from HALBE, which support the effect of the pictures and offer them a stage to unfold perfectly. Frame and picture enter into a symbiosis and grant the viewer a perfect view.
