The salon style hanging
It is this natural development that makes conscious design particularly difficult. The danger is to take up lines and lose the variance. Then it is better to stay with the edge hanging. In most cases, the Petersburg hanging, or salon style hanging, is connected to very closely fitted walls. It also works in a deliberate and clear loose arrangement.
Ideally, you should choose a theme-related motif for the Petersburg hanging or use similar frames. When hanging the wall paintings, you then proceed from the inside out, starting from the largest frame or the central motif of the collection. The result is a beautiful and loose arrangement of the pictures.

This type of wall design is currently very popular among interior designers. The "wild" Petersburg hanging is completely different from other design possibilities. The only rule it follows is that there are no rules, i.e. axes, lines or fixed patterns. The name originates from the densely hung walls of the hermitage in Petersburg. In everyday life, one encounters this hanging rather in rustic pubs with photos of famous guests. There it is created according to the principle of chance. Additional pictures are placed wherever there is space. Thus the most different motifs, sizes and picture frame types complement each other to a wild look.
