HALBE standard glass is great value for money and is sturdier on account of its 2.4 millimetre thickness. Normally, panes are only 2.0 millimetres thick. Our standard glass is ideal for framings where UV rays, heightened safety concerns or exceptional picture quality are not the key issues.
Standard glass has a slight green tint due to its iron oxide content. Colour reproduction is therefore not completely faithful.
Two types of standard glass are available: brilliant (glass 1) and standard glass matt/brilliant (glass 2). They have different levels of contour sharpness and anti-reflectiveness.
Standard glass is completely smooth and fire-polished. In the manufacturing process, molten glass flows continuously from one side onto a bed of molten tin. Edges are polished and rounded to ensure safety. The glass is delivered in clean condition.
Due to its low level of UV protection, standard glass is not suitable for conservational framing.
Standard glass is robust and easy to clean using water or common glass cleaners.
