Advantages:

Toughened safety glass (ESG for short) protects pictures from damage caused by blunt impacts or knocks. This is because it is particularly break-resistant. It also ensures safety in the event of glass breakage due to excessive stress. The pane disintegrates into tiny pieces without sharp edges, preventing damage and the risk of injury.

Optics:

Just like normal glass, toughened safety glass has a slight green tint due to its iron oxide content. As a result, the color reproduction of paperwork is not absolutely true to the original.

Versions:

The safety glass is also available in two versions - in glossy and one-sided matt/one-sided glossy.

Structure:

Toughened safety glass is 4 millimetres thick and thermally toughened. Its weight lies between that of conventional glass and double-pane safety glass. The ESG marking is stamped on the side - on the edge of the glass and not visible from the front.

Note:

Due to its low protection against UV light, toughened safety glass is not recommended for conservation framing.

Cleaning:

The relatively insensitive toughened safety glass can be easily cleaned with water or commercially available glass cleaner.

Stabil, sicher und gute Optik

Wir nutzen das Glas um bei Bruch scharfe Scherben zu verhindern. Zum Glück war das bis jetzt noch nicht notwendig, da das Glas durch seine Stärke sehr stabil ist. Der Blick durchs Glas ist genauso gut wie bei normalem Glas. Es ist nur recht schwer.
