The fusion of time, nature and art

Salty Air (2017-2019) is a series of paintings that follows on from “Spatio-temporal lapse” (2014-2016) and deals with time and subconscious impressions. Both series focus on nature in relation to humans and attempt to create new images of consciousness through painting. The boundaries between reality and imagination, inner and outer space, and figurative and abstract merge.

Through painting, Andrea Musa attempts to bring to consciousness forgotten or unconscious images that our perception registers but often remains hidden. The series focuses on the sea as a medium for representing time. Musa explores the psychological and emotional connections to the sea and depicts two moments in time: the powerful, invisible force of time, embodied by the constantly moving surface of the sea, and the vacuum of a unique moment, captured in a breath of salty air. The constant swell symbolizes the incessant movement of life and invites the viewer to reflect on themselves and feel the freedom of the open horizon.
