The magic of abstraction
The exhibition “Poetry of Silence” by photographer Roland Blum is being presented for the first time by the Bechter Kastowsky Gallery in Vienna. From November 7, 2024, to February 1, 2025, the gallery will show a selection of Blum's works, most of which were created in Namibia. Known as abstract photography, his works combine the precision of photographic detail with a painterly gesture. Aerial photographs of desert landscapes, captured in the light of the rising sun, create the illusion of powerful brushstrokes through the play of shadows and shapes. The abstraction arises from the unusual perspective, which challenges familiar ways of seeing.
