Landscape photography with an alpine focus
The artist Gian Giovanoli grew up in the tranquil village of Sils Maria and discovered his passion for photography on the shores of Lake Sils. He captured the beauty of the Engadin with his first camera. After increasing demand, he began a career as a commercial photographer, specializing in fashion, sport, architecture and still life, and worked for over ten years for various clients and well-known companies.
Despite the high demand, Gian Giovanoli decided to pursue his true passion: landscape photography. In 2017, he opened his own gallery in Pontresina, which he moved to St. Moritz in 2020. Gian Giovanoli's work includes impressive large-format landscape photographs, fusion works of alpine culture and documentary photography of nomadic shepherds far from the Engadine.
