Exhibition about Tichý in Switzerland
From September 15 to November 5, Photobastei in Zurich is dedicating an extensive solo show to the Czech photographer Miroslav Tichý, with around 140 works from the Nikolai and Leah Kalischek Collection and some from his private collection.
About Miroslav Tichý
Miroslav Tichý (1926 - 2011) was discovered by artist Roman Buxbaum and promoted since the early 1980s. In 2004 he exhibited for the first time at the Seville Biennial and experienced an enormous rise in the 21st century. In 2006 he was granted a solo exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zürich. Many large museums and further exhibitions followed. Only after his death in 2011 it became quieter around the Czech photographer.
Exhibition at the Photobastei Zurich
The current exhibition with about 140 works of Miroslav Tichý is shown until 05 November in the Photobastei Zurich. Curator Adi Hoesle takes the visitor on a virtual journey through Tichý's hometown Kyiov. Tichý photographed the women of the city with self-made cameras along a fixed route - day after day. In this way he created an enigmatic, extremely aesthetic work consisting of more than 10,000 pictures.
Frames used
140 picture frames in the format 30x40 cm were needed for the exhibition, in the version as Classic-magnetic frame Wood 10, oak black. The glass used was SCHOTT Mirogard® anti-reflective museum glass, which minimizes reflections to less than 1% and thus ensures that the art is enjoyed in a manner that is true to the original.
