Emanuele Scorcelletti's 'Elegia Fantastica' at the Leica Gallery Düsseldorf

From May 16 to July 26, 2025, the Leica Gallery Düsseldorf will present "Elegia Fantastica," an impressive exhibition by the renowned photographer Emanuele Scorcelletti. The exhibition is an invitation to a photographic journey that not only enchants visually but also touches emotionally – a quiet, elegant elegy in black and white. Scorcelletti, known for his striking images from the world of celebrities, here showcases a deeper side of his work. With "Elegia Fantastica," he reflects on personal relationships with places and memories, focusing on two groups of works: "Memories" and "Visions."

Two cycles, a poetic composition

The series "Memories" showcases contemplative moments of everyday life. The imagery recalls great masters like Mario Giacomelli or Henri Cartier-Bresson. In "Visions," Scorcelletti transitions into a more abstract, light-filled sphere, with intentional blurriness and minimalistic expression. Photographed with the Leica M Monochrom (Type 246) – no retouching, completely pure.

A work between intimacy and the universal

His Italian roots – the family comes from Marche and Friuli – run through the works. The places seem both familiar and detached at the same time. Personal exploration turns into a universal visual language. Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, artistic director of the Leica Galleries, sums it up:

"He can simply do everything: whether it's a grand production, a finely observed moment, or a seemingly random snapshot. The magnificent photographer Emanuele Scorcelletti consistently manages to tell a story that entices viewers to linger longer. Although he loves variety, his style is unmistakable."
