Award for the preservation of cultural assets

There are many honours for the creation of art, to the delight of visual artists and writers. Now, for the first time, there is also an award for the manifold commitment to the preservation of art and cultural assets - the „Riegel – KulturBewahren“.

The trade journalKulturBetrieb“ presented the award for the first time on 10 November 2016.

The award is intended to honour projects and measures that contribute to the permanent preservation of art and cultural assets. The prize recognizes practice-oriented solutions, is independent and endowed, and the prize money comes exclusively from companies in the business sector. HALBE, as a member of the sponsors of this globally unique initiative, would like to congratulate this year's winners of the "Riegel 2016"!

Laureates of the "Riegel 2016"

Congratulations to the winners of the "Riegel 2016" Dr. Alke Dohrmann (Hamburg), Dr. Katrin Schöne (Berlin) and Almut Siegel (Potsdam), who jointly developed the "SicherheitsLeitfaden Kulturgut - SiLK" (Security Guidelines for Cultural Property).

The guide is available online free of charge and was developed in close cooperation with the "Conference of National Cultural Institutions" (KNK).

Security Guide for Cultural Property - SiLK

The Security Guidelines for Cultural Property (SiLK) serve to raise awareness of the issue of security and the protection of cultural property in museums, libraries and archives.

With its essays, questionnaires and a large pool of knowledge, it supports staff in evaluating their institution in the area of security and provides tips and suggestions for solutions. How does it work? For each topic you will find a suitable introduction, a knowledge pool and a questionnaire. The latter forms the central part of the SiLK. After answering all questions, the user receives an evaluation according to the traffic light principle. If a minimum standard is not met ("red" or "yellow"), recommendations for action or compensatory measures are displayed in the evaluation.
