Photographs of an extraordinary journey
In April, the exhibition “Windsbraut” by photographer Verena Brüning opened at Kunstraum Elsa in Bielefeld. Brüning accompanied a crew of 47 women on the brig Roald Amundsen and documented their 24-day journey of 3167 nautical miles from Tenerife to Martinique. Her truly impressive photographs show the hard work on board, special moments and the untamed beauty of the Atlantic.
Brüning's pictures invite visitors to dream of their own adventures and experience the fascination of the sea. The photographs from this trip can also be purchased in an illustrated book that captures the impressions of the journey in an impressive way.
Verena Brüning, born 1981 in Rheine, graduated in photography at the FH Bielefeld - University of Applied Sciences and Arts in 2010. She now works in Berlin as a freelance photographer for various magazines and commercial clients.
