Parallel photography exhibitions

At the same time as his exhibition at Schloss Oberhausen, Marcus Schwier is exhibiting at the "Museum für Gartenkunst" (museum for garden art) of the Benrath Palace and Park Foundation. The title "Photography" is not meant to be grandiloquent, but rather generalist, as Schwier devotes himself to a wide range of subjects. From architectural and landscape photography, with an inclination towards interiors and cultivated landscapes, to exhibition and trade fair photography, he always reflects on the status of photography as a pictorial-artistic process.

Five work complexes by the Düsseldorf photographer Marcus Schwier will be presented. These are more or less completed series of images from the fields of architecture, people and landscape photography. Within the thematic blocks, a series of night shots from North and South American cities (NIGHTSHOTS) is devoted to the relationship between light and space.

Light is also a factor in his interior series for which he has been celebrated in the past. In the photographic development of corridors, staircases and rooms, he worked exclusively with daylight and its creative power.

In the series GREENHOUSE / AGRICULTURE he deals with greenhouses, which thematize the human production of today's nature and culture. At the same time, they convey man's ideas of order vis-à-vis nature.

The works of the series ROUNDABOUT & STRAIGHT AHEAD were created at the Düsseldorf Rhine system and at the Rhine beach. The works of the series CTRL-Space show similar perspectives. The motifs, created with a long tripod from a height of approx. 6 metres, refer to the omnipresent video cameras and thus thematise the image of the world generated by surveillance technology.
