How are artworks framed?

500 newly framed works have been presented to the world since the end of October in the new Munch Museum in Oslo. But how are works of art by such a famous artist reframed? Do the appropriate materials still exist? Who is involved in such a project? The following documentary accompanies the extensive research and reframing project.

From Munich to Illinois to Kirchen in the Westerwald, the background to the exterior and interior frames as well as the right glass are covered. Werner Murrer, the specialist for contemporary frames and expert for Munch frames from Munich, HALBE-Rahmen as expert for safe and magnetic frames from Kirchen and Tru Vue for the perfect glass from Illinois- they all together managed in close cooperation with the Munch Museum to design the right frames. This way, the expressionist's works could be framed in a conservational manner and safely presented to the public.
