The collaboration of Erwin Olaf and Hans Op de Beeck in Luxembourg
From 16 December 2022 to 11 June 2023, the exhibition by Erwin Olaf and Hans Op de Beeck could be admired at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart. The occasion for the joint project was the 50th anniversary of the death of the renowned photographer Edward Steichen.
The Dutch Olaf and the Belgian-born Op de Beeck collaborated for the first time because of their appreciation and admiration for Edward Steichen's work. The exhibition in Luxembourg showed Olaf's series "In the Forest" together with watercolours and sculptures by Op de Beeck and landscape photographs by Steichen himself, creating unexpected connections between the three artists despite their different styles.
The exhibition looks at Steichen's works in a new light and encourages viewers to rediscover the photographer's artistic qualities through a contemporary lens.
