Photographer for pregnancy, birth and puerperium in Freiburg (Breisgau, Germany) and surroundings
The Freiburg photographer Isabell Steinert accompanies families from pregnancy to birth to the puerperium in a documentary yet artistic style. She discovered her passion for birth photography during her work with a non-profit organization in the Philippines, where she experienced her first births in 2013 in a birth house on the outskirts of Manila. Since then Isabell Steinert has accompanied more than 100 births and is one of the pioneers of birth photography in the German-speaking world.
With her photographs, the Freiburg-based artist hopes to change the image of giving birth in our society and strengthen expectant parents for their own births. Her pictures can be found in her exhibitions at changing locations, as well as firmly attached to the walls of various birth centers, midwife practices and clinics. In the presentation of her works Isabell Steinert uses high-quality Fine Art prints on Hahnemühle artist paper and HALBE magnetic frames made of oak wood - true to her motto "Turning life's most memorable moments into art".
