The exhibition

At the beginning of September, the first German solo exhibition in honor of Ruth Orkin opened at freiraum für fotografie Berlin. The American was one of the few female photographers who published photographs in newspapers and magazines in the 1940s and 1950s.

Now, for the first time, her impressive photographs from the post-war period are being given a stage in Germany: at freiraum für fotografie (f³) in Berlin, the exhibition can be visited until November 21, 2021. Curated by Katharina Mouratidi and Nadine Barth, it shows a selection of Orkin's best works and series. The photographs tell stories of different societies in the post-war period. Orkin traveled not only throughout the United States for her work, but also to Italy and Israel.

The frames

Framed are the predominantly black and white photographs in black CLASSIC magnetic frames from HALBE. The picture frames, together with classic white passepartouts, create a coherent, stylish presentation and underline the luminosity of the pictures.
