Exhibition in Berlin
From February 15 to April 21, 2019, f³ - freiraum für fotografie in Berlin presents the exhibition CRAZY - Living with Mental Illness. Presented are works by five renowned photographers who have dealt with the topic for very personal reasons. These photographers are Laia Abril, Sibylle Fendt, Nora Klein, Louis Quail and Melissa Spitz.
In the course of their lives, more than one in four adults in Germany will suffer from a mental disorder. For those affected, this often means extreme restrictions in all areas of life. Nevertheless, these illnesses are tabooed and there are unclear perceptions, making it difficult to gain insight into the world of those affected. The photographers try to create an awareness for the illnesses through their pictures.

The works
Laila Abril 's The Epilogue tells the story of the Robinson family, who lost their youngest daughter to bulimia.
Sibylle Fendt 's photographs in Gardener's journey depict the final journey of a married couple as the wife developed dementia.
With the series Mal gut, mehr schlecht (Sometimes Good, More Bad) Nora Klein Nora Klein tries to illustrate the illness depression.
Louis Quail 's photographs Big Brother depict his brother's life with schizophrenia.
You Have Nothing to Worry About is a work by Melissa Spitz, that documents the emotional life of her mother, who suffers from severe mental illness.

Frames in action
Some of the emotional photographs are presented in picture frames from HALBE Rahmen. The simple elegance is perfect for bringing the photographs to the fore and providing them with the perfect stage. Visitors can marvel at the exhibition until April 21, 2019. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 1pm to 7pm.
