About the exhibition at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf

From 04 June to 09 July 2023 , once again the largest exhibition in Germany organized by artists for artists took place. The exhibition venues were the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, the NRW-Forum and the Ehrenhof .

With the exhibition, the Verein zur Veranstaltung von Kunstausstellungen e. V. creates a unique platform for the exchange between people interested in art, but also artists and potential buyers. The special feature of the exhibition is that visitors can purchase the works directly on site, without the involvement of a gallery.

There were over 1,200 applications this year, of which the annually changing jury chose 153 different artists. Diversity is also taken into account here: The exhibition included works from the fields of painting, photography, graphics, sculpture, installation and video.

About the photographer Marcus Schwier

One of the 153 selected artists was the renowned German artist Marcus Schwier, who exhibited three of his works "Summer & Winter 1-3" at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf. The photographs are archival prints on Hahnemühle cardboard in the size 70 × 100 cm.

HALBE picture frames in action

The three works exhibited at the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf were framed in DISTANCE magnetic frames by HALBE . As for the profile, the photographer has chosen wood 20 picture frames with a distance of 10. Despite their clear contrasts in content and appearance, all three motifs were framed in simple strips in the color natural oak. The deliberate choice of the same material creates a visual link between the contrasting motifs of summer and winter. The restrained frames in combination with a white mount perfectly set the stage for the works without stealing the stage from them while giving them a commonality despite their individuality. In addition, the distance between the glass and the work provides an additional three-dimensional depth effect.
