FAQ - Frequently asked questions
Picture frame
You can find a video tutorial for picture frame configuration on our Youtube channel.
The magnetic frame principle describes the simple and quick opening and closing of picture frames from the front. You can find more information and a video under the magnetic frame principle.
For the Rizzi pictures (including passepartout and a total thickness of approx. 16 mm) we use as standard a Classic magnetic frame in Alu 14, silver matt, Plexiglas glossy scratch-resistant with an insertion depth of 16 mm.
In general, you can also order picture frames without glass, but unfortunately this is not possible online. Please send us your order or request by e-mail or call us: 02741-9580 0.
If an unadulterated colour reproduction is important to you, we recommend using white glass. In this case, all glasses except HALBE normal glass and the single-pane safety glass are suitable.
Groglass' Artglass museum glass and Optium Museum Acrylic® are highly anti-reflective and reduce reflections to less than 1 percent. Further information on the subject of picture glass can be found in our glass knowledge area.
The production of Mirogard museum glass has been discontinued. In the future, Artglass from the Latvian manufacturer Groglass will replace all three variants of Mirogard. The quality of Artglass is equal to that of Mirogard: the colors of the residual reflection correspond to those of Mirogard - and you benefit from higher UV protection.
Artglass AR 70 replaces Mirogard
Artglass AR 92 replaces Mirogard Plus
Artglass AR 99 replaces Mirogard Protect
You can always use the picture frames in portrait and landscape format, there are hanging holes all around. The exact orientation is only needed to design a passepartout or to determine the position of the picture locks. An exception is the Display magnetic frame, because of its clamping device it can only be used in the selected orientation.
Some things you just want to evaluate in the original before making the final decision. You can find our various picture frames and accessories sample sets to send under samples.
You have the choice between picture frames made of aluminium and high-quality wood. This means that you have 15 different picture frame colours and various profiles to choose from. You can find an overview of the available colours and profiles under our profile and colour overview.
The insertion depth defines the available space within the picture frame for e.g. background cardboard, picture, passepartout, etc. You can find more information and examples under insertion depth.
We are happy to offer individual painting of the picture frame profile in accordance with a RAL colour for larger projects. The purchase quantity per colour is approx. 1,000 metres.
How we treat the environment determines our future. That is why HALBE-Rahmen has set itself the goal of CO₂-neutral production and resource-saving operation. This applies to all materials used, such as aluminum, wood, packaging materials, technical equipment, machines and even shipping. You can find more info on the topic of sustainability here.
Measures and dimensions
HALBE-frames are possible from 130 x 130 mm to 2000 x 3000 mm. There is a wide range of standard formats for picture frames. In addition to DIN formats, common standard sizes for picture frames are available in 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1 or 16:9 format according to the picture ratio. You can find further information under our picture frame size overview.
The order format of the picture frames always refers to the glass size or insertion size of the picture frame. It is the maximum picture size that can be inserted.
The picture frame size or the order size always corresponds to the picture size or the outer format of a passepartout. So if the picture or the passepartout has a size of 300 x 400 mm, you should also choose a picture frame in the corresponding size. You can find more information in our blog under Determining picture frame sizes.
Our picture frames are manufactured to the millimetre with plus tolerance, there is hardly any leeway. Special formats should be ordered 1 mm larger than your measured sheet size.
We can produce picture frames up to a size of 1400 x 2500 mm, in some versions also up to 2000 x 3000 mm, online these "XL-formats" are not yet shown. Therefore, please send us your inquiry or ideas by e-mail to info@halbe.de or call us on 02741-9580 0.
You will find the appropriate dimension sketch for each picture frame during configuration below the configuration options under the point "Your picture frame configuration"
Our glasses are between 2.5 and 3 mm thick. Only the ESG and Mirogard® Protect panes are 4 mm and 4.5 mm thick respectively. You can find information on the different glass thicknesses of our glass types under Information on glass types.
You can find the weight of the picture frame during configuration on the right-hand side below the price and delivery time information.
Accessories
You are always free to choose the passepartout cut-out. The important thing is that the cut-out should be approx. 10 mm smaller than your image. This ensures that the image is covered by passepartout. The minimum border width is 30 mm.
Example: For a picture format of 210 x 310 mm, choose a passepartout cut-out of 200 x 300 mm and a passepartout outer format of 300 x 400 mm, which corresponds to the picture frame size. For more information and a table on how to determine the right passepartout cut-out and picture frame for your image, please see our blog post on the topic of the right size for mounts.
A passepartout with several cut-outs is no problem. Please send us your order and a sketch of the passepartout with all the dimensions (border widths, cut-outs, web widths) or even better a drawing as a .dxf file by e-mail to info@halbe.de.
In general, you can freely design the border widths of the passepartout. The only important thing is that the minimum border width must not be less than 30 mm. For more detailed information, please visit our knowledge area on the subject of passepartouts.
You can hang the picture frames optionally on gallery rails and ropes or quite classically with nails and hooks on the wall. You can find more information and tips under our information on hanging systems.
With regard to the best possible security when hanging your picture frames on ropes, we generally recommend the combination of stainless steel rope and fixed hanger. In general, however, the lower load capacity with regard to the weight of the frame and the local condition of the walls must be taken into account accordingly when mounting the gallery rails. An overview of the different working loads can be found under HALBE hanging system.
We offer various options for protection against unauthorized opening and hanging or against falling down. Of your picture frame. This protection is called picture lock. All options can be found here at a glance under Information on picture lock.
Shipping
We offer express shipping within Germany. You can find information on the procedure and prices under shipping information. Please call 02741-9580 0 or send an e-mail directly to your contact person before shipping.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide a telephone advice when shipping via the GLS parcel service.
When shipping via Cargoline a telephone advice is possible. However, this request must be explicitly communicated to us at the time of ordering, including contact person and telephone number!
You will find an overview of our delivery countries under Payment and Shipping. If your country is not listed, please send us your request as well as the complete delivery address to info@halbe.de. We will then check whether a delivery is possible and how high the shipping costs would be. Usually the costs and fees are more expensive than the desired picture frames, so it is usually only worth it for large orders.
At the moment we do not offer shipping of our picture frames to the UK due to the difficulties caused by Brexit. As soon as reliable deliveries are possible again, we will ship to the UK again.
Please send us your request and the complete delivery address to info@halbe.de. We will then check individually if a delivery is possible and how expensive it would be. Often the shipping costs and customs clearance fees are higher than the picture frames themselves, so it is often only worth it for large orders.
When shipping to Switzerland, the German VAT is not charged. We also take over the customs clearance fees. When importing into Switzerland, the Swiss Post or the Swiss forwarding agency will charge the import sales tax of 7.7% of the invoice amount (Swiss sales tax).
To ensure that your frame reaches you in one piece, each picture frame is delivered in a resealable individual package.
Single picture frames or small quantities are packed in a custom-made shipping box and delivered by parcel service or forwarding agency, depending on size and weight.
Larger quantities are packed in pallet boxes on half pallets or Euro pallets and delivered by forwarding agents.
You will receive an initial estimate of the shipping method in the shopping cart. You will receive the exact details with the PDF order confirmation. For more information, please see Delivery information and Payment and dispatch.
Our parcel shipping with GLS and DPD is climate neutral. Minimal packaging volume, custom-made shipping packaging reduces transport volume and the use of packaging and cushioning material. Our cardboard boxes used are made of recycled paper and we produce the filling material ourselves.
